Gratitude…

Weekend…

An unexpectedly delightful one.  God surprised me with it. Being at home with a cold kept me from being out and about, running here and there as normal.  I had wonderful leisurely time for prayer journaling, noticing and enjoying my living space, reading a great book about time, eating foods I love, and hanging out to do pampery, girly things with my great kid (who is now old enough to bring home those pampery, girly gifts for me!).

And the break in the hot weather only adds to the contentment and joy.   I can’t think of a better way right now to get through a cold…thank you…thank you so much, God…for everything.

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.”  (Psalm 90:14)

Hello WordPress World!

July 1st.  Today begins the second half of  2010.  And June went by without a word written.  So much going on….

Upon our return from Beach Week, I read this from Amy Carmichael this morning:

Exod. 17:16 margin:  Because the hand of Amalek is against the throne of the Lord.
Rev. 5:6:  In the midst of the throne…a Lamb as it had been slain.
Psalm 17:13: Arise, O Lord, disappoint him, cast him down.

Have you noticed how the hand against the throne, and the Lamb as though it had been slain in the midst of the throne, are two great pictures of the Unseen which are closely linked together?  It is by virtue of Calvary that we use the words of Psalm 17:13, “Arise, O Lord, disappoint him [the Amalek of our day], cast him down.”

Jehovah Nissi, disappoint
Thine ancient enemy.
Because Thy throne he had defied,
By virtue of the Crucified
We claim the victory.

The Terrible would hold his prey;
O Lamb of GOD, command
The shining legions of the light
To put this Amalek to flight;
The Cause is in Thy hand.

Our hands be steady, then until
The setting of the sun;
Then sudden, through the cloudy skies
The dawn shall break, the song shall rise,
The song of warfare won.

Lord,  let us celebrate as we remember the songs of worship and praise we sang…the songs of warfare won.  In Jesus’ name.
